I just read “Ebonics suggested for district” By Irma Lemus (Sunday, July 17, 2005 – 6:54:01 PM PST) at:

Which says,”Incorporating Ebonics into a new school policy that targets black students, the lowest-achieving group in the San Bernardino City Unified School District, may provide students a more well-rounded curriculum, said a local sociologist.

A pilot of the policy, known as the Students Accumulating New Knowledge Optimizing Future Accomplishment Initiative, has been implemented at two city schools.”

If that was an acronym, they could make a new word in ebonics: SANKOFAI.

sankofai | sa NG k o fi |
verb ( -faied)
1. to attempt to change the rules in your favor instead of admitting failure and confronting the problem of under-achieving students in a crappy school system: The San Bernardino City Unified School District is trying to sankofai their way out of not meeting the No Child Left Behind guidelines.
2. to completely screw something up through ignorance and ineptitude: Yo, G! Dat skool sankofaied ma learn-on up!

Thanks,

Chad Riden
